History
Since 1911, Katharine Gibbs Schools have been committed to providing quality education to their students. A student's experience at Gibbs School provides a foundation of life-long learning. Programs
Visual Communications Program

This program teaches basic skills which progress to more advanced multi-media and animation techniques including computer knowledge and software applications currently employed in the graphic design industry. The students will be trained in written communication skills, basic keyboarding, and the interpersonal skills vital for success in this professional, competitive sector of business. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions in design studios, advertising agencies, and corporate art departments.

Electronic Commerce
A nine-month certificate program that will give students specific technical, design, professional and operational information about conducting business with the use of the Internet and other new technologies. Students will be in a position to seek employment as web-based entrepreneurs, consultants, or as employees within existing business structures that are establishing or maintaining an Internet presence.

Executive Assistant Program
A nine-month certificate program specially designed to prepare students for a career in the "office of the 21st Century," a business environment that will utilize the latest technology to enhance and grow its operations. The program provides hands-on experience with the latest hardware and software found in the most modern office settings. Basic business skills will continue to be vital in progressive offices, and this program focuses on written communications, effective speaking, working as part of a team, critical-thinking, and efficient office practices.

Legal Executive Assistant Program
This is a nine-month certificate program designed to prepare students for rewarding and challenging positions as legal secretaries. Students are introduced to court structure, legal writing and research, and legal practice and procedure. Classroom topics will include legal terminology and the production of documents such as contracts, powers of attorney, and affidavits. Students can develop the skills to perform effectively in a general business environment and an understanding of the special needs of the legal profession.

Corporate Assistant Program
The Corporate Assistant Program is a 12-month certificate program that prepares students for a career in the "office of the 21st Century." It is designed to give students the skills, training, and confidence needed to manage information and to solve information management problems.

This program provides training in written communications, professionalism, and office operations and procedures. Students will have opportunities to learn how to operate the most widely used word processing and computer-based information systems. Far more importantly, this program gives students a comprehensive understanding of how the technology behind the equipment works.

Computer Technical Support Program
Qualified PC computer specialists and network technologists are in constant demand, and this Gibbs' program provides an excellent foundation for entry into this exciting and growing field.

Upon successful completion of the 12-month Certificate Program you will be able to configure workstations in a number of Microsoft operating systems including Windows 3.11, Windows '95, NT/ Workstation, and in the historically popular Novell 4.11 operating environment. In addition, the PC training you receive will provide valuable hands-on experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and fault isolating with the most common components within a PC.

To enhance your hardware knowledge base, the Gibbs Computer Technical Support Program includes administrative training in network topologies, protocols, and workstation network access.
